Buildings through the ages - a walk and talk event.
Join Stephen at the Chiltern Open Air Museum for a day exploring a variety of historic and traditional buildings.
Spend a day with Stephen on site at COAM. There is much to see and explore. The intention is to walk around the site to tour the buildings, with Stephen providing an overview. As the group explores the site, there will be opportunities to discuss the specific buildings and typical issues relating to their type, age and construction.
The day will start with a timber framed barn, then explore inter-war pre-fabs, a mixed age cottage, a Victorian hall and church, a cruck barn, an Iron Age roundhouse, a brick toll booth and some 19th century industrial buildings.
Along the way, delegates will see timber frames, tile, thatch, witchert, cruck construction, brick and much more. This is your day, so come prepared with your questions and bring an open mind to explore and learn about a variety of historic and traditional buildings.
Programme timings are approximate.
Meet up in the car park. Please note that the site opens at 10:00.
Start in Northolt Barn to discuss timber frames.
Via the cafe to the Thame Vicarage Room, a Victorian church hall, and then across to the Henton Mission Room, a tin church.
Explore witchert at Haddenham Cottage and Leagrave Cottages, thatched and of mixed age.
Lunch at the cafe or bring your own picnic. During lunch there will be general chat and/or a chance to explore the inter-war pre-fabs for those who want to.

The fee does not include lunch and refreshments during the day. Delegates can pay for their own at the cafe or bring their own picnic.

There is a dedicated car park with gravel and earth paths to and around the site.
